Free health screenings offered at new Johnston Memorial Hospital
ABINGDON, Va. – Free health screenings will be offered at Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH) on Thursday, July 19, from 1 to 6 p.m. to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the new hospital. The hospital is located at 16000 Johnston Memorial Drive in Abingdon.
The event will be held in the Cancer Center Conference Room, 2nd Floor, Regional Cancer Center at JMH. Free blood glucose screenings, blood pressure checks, bone density scans, fall risk assessments, sleep screenings and body mass index screenings will be available.
Since the new JMH opened a year ago, the hospital has been busy, seeing roughly 10,000 patients and more than 40,000 Emergency Department visits, performing close to 500 heart catheterizations, and attending to nearly 800 births. The new facility replaced the 92-year-old Johnston Memorial Hospital and features multiple updates to equipment, technology and atmosphere.
“We are pleased to be seeing such success at the new Johnston Memorial Hospital,” said Sean McMurray, CEO of JMH. “It is a testament to our high-quality, patient-centered care that so many local and regional residents are coming to us for their health care.”
