Health systems to sponsor seminar on exploring end-of-life decisions
GRAY, Tenn. – Tri-Cities Baptist Church will host a free seminar on end-of-life decisions Thursday, April 28 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. The event, sponsored by Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) and Wellmont Health System, will offer information on preparing for funeral arrangements, understanding long-term care insurance and creating advance directives.
One of the most important things a person can do for his or her loved ones is to have a plan for end-of-life decisions. These decisions are best handled in collaboration with family – not decisions to be left until a moment of crisis arrives.
Speakers will include Dr. Laura Cunnington, medical director for Wellmont Health System Hospice; Billie Farthing, attorney with Herndon, Coleman, Brading & McKee; Anna Butler, spiritual counselor for MSHA; April Collins, hospice social worker for MSHA; Susan Ayers, registered nurse for Wellmont Health System Hospice; Spencer Stuart with Genworth Long-Term Insurance; David Ensminger, advance funeral planning counselor with Tetrick Funeral Home; and a representative from Mountain Region Donor Service.
Advance directive forms for Tennessee and Virginia residents will be available, and refreshments will be served. Registration is not required. For more information, call (423) 844-5252 or (423) 431-6146.
