HRC announces events for Women’s Health Week
5/6/2011
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – National Women’s Health Week is May 8-14, and the Health Resources Center (HRC) of Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) has several events planned to celebrate. The You & Improved Simply Spectacular Women's Health Expo is coming up this Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the upper level of The Mall at Johnson City. The Expo is the day before Mother's Day - a great opportunity for women to take time to do something special for themselves and to encourage the other women in their lives to do the same. The theme is “Refocus, Refresh and Renew.” A multitude of free health screenings will be provided at the Expo, and two live cooking shows will take place, courtesy of Food City, where women can get new ideas and learn new techniques, taste delicious samples and get recipes for healthy new dishes.
Expo vendors will provide information and giveaways on a multitude of topics of importance to women, plus pampering services and free door prizes. One of these vendors, Safe Passage, will collect donations of laundry supplies and old mobile phones to benefit the women and children helped by Safe Passage. The Hispanic Women's Health Fair will also be held on Saturday, May 7, from 2-5 p.m. in the HRC Annex. Free health information and giveaways will be provided, courtesy of the ETSU Language and Culture Resource Center.
