Indian Path recognized for reducing readmissions, hospital-acquired conditions

8/22/2014

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Indian Path Medical Center has earned recognition for reducing preventable hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) and readmissions, as part of the federal Partnership for Patients initiative. The honor comes from Premier, Inc.

Through the Partnership for Patients, Premier’s hospital engagement network (HEN) is working with more than 400 hospitals to reduce preventable readmissions by 20 percent and preventable HACs by 40 percent from January 2012 to December 2014.

As a member of Premier’s HEN, Indian Path is one of the 35 hospitals to be honored with a Citation of Merit for the Premier Partnership for Patients Award for early success in reaching its reduction goals in at least five of the 10 areas measured. Indian Path was recognized during Premier’s annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in San Antonio.

The areas in which Indian Path was recognized for meeting reduction goals were:

  • Pressure ulcers
  • Surgical site infection
  • Ventilator-associated pneumonia
  • Injuries
  • Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI)

“Participation in this initiative reinforces our commitment to reliably deliver the best care experience to our community,” said Monty McLaurin, vice president and CEO of Indian Path. “We’re proud to receive the Premier Partnership for Patients Award as we continue down our path of reducing HACs and readmissions.”
