ABINGDON, Va. -- Abingdon businessmen Bill Hayter and Eric Miller, and Abingdon physician Dr. James M. Gardner have been selected as new members of the Johnston Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. The three will fill seats vacated by Dr. Laramie Triplett and Brendan McSheehy Jr., who both served on the board for nine years, and Dr. Emory Robinette who completed an eight-year term of service.
“Our out-going board members have all served JMH for almost a decade, and I can’t thank them enough for their long-time commitment to keep health care top-notch here in our community,” said Hugh Ferguson, chairman of the JMH Board of Trustees. “We welcome our new members who will help the board continue to make decisions in the best interest of our hospital and the community.”
Both Hayter, CEO, President and Director of First Bank and Trust in Abingdon, and Miller, President of Damascus Corporation and Platnick Crane and Steel, will be serving on the board for the first time. Dr. Gardner, a family practice physician practicing with Magnolia Family Medicine located at The Campus, also serves as a member of the medical executive committee at Johnston Memorial Hospital.
“I hope to continue building the reputation for patient satisfaction and financial stability that has been the history of JMH,” said Miller of his new appointment. “As an organ transplant recipient, joining the JMH board offers me an opportunity to return some of the benefits to a health system that has provided many services to me and my family.”
