ABINGDON, Va. – Johnston Memorial Hospital will host a free community education session on advance medical directives on March 24 at 9 a.m.
An advance health care directive, also known as a living will, is a set of instructions given by an individual specifying what actions should be taken for his or her health in the event that he or she is no longer able to make decisions due to illness or incapacity. The living will appoints a person to make such decisions on the patient’s behalf.
The event, which is designed to shed light on the importance of this document and to provide guidance on how to create one, will take place at the Johnston Memorial Cancer Center, 26079 Lee Highway, Abingdon, on Thursday, March 24 at 9 a.m. The event is free and open to the public; registration is not required. For more information, please call 276-676-7227 or 276-739-2216.
