Local nurse takes the helm at Dickenson Community Hospital
CLINTWOOD, Va. - With 18 years of nursing experience, Donna Wiles, who was born and raised in Clintwood, is taking the position of hospital director and chief nursing officer of Dickenson Community Hospital.
Wiles had been serving as an RN in the hospital’s emergency department. In her new position, she will oversee the daily operations of the hospital.
“This is my home, this is my community,” Wiles said. “I see my new position as a real opportunity to take all of my clinical experience and give something back to Dickenson County.”
Wiles is no stranger to hard work. She began her clinical career as an LPN in the area and continued to work full time and go back to school to become an RN through Mountain Empire Community College. She has served in a variety of supervising roles, such as the director of ER and Outpatient services at Mountain View Regional Hospital and as a nursing supervisor at Norton Community Hospital.
“Donna brings a wealth of experience into her new role,” said Craig James, CEO of DCH. “She is rooted in this community and an excellent fit for this position.”
One of the top priorities Wiles will be working on is bringing the Patient-Centered Care philosophy to life at DCH.
“I want each of our patients to have an exceptional experience and recommend our hospital to their family and friends,” she said.
