‘Mission: Possible’ program a fun way to get healthy
12/30/2010
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Health Resources Center,
Johnson City Medical Center’s
outreach facility in The Mall at Johnson City, is preparing to start a new fitness initiative called “Mission: Possible – A Healthier You.”
This FREE 6-week program is designed to take the mystery out of getting fit. The program will include weekly nutrition and exercise goals, clues to follow and code-cracking fun. Weekly “I Spy Clues” utilize Food City’s NuVal scores in a fun and interactive way. Completing the six clues will enable the participants to find the hidden message and “crack the code.” “Agents” of all ages can participate, and family participation is encouraged. The spy theme and great prizes will add to the fun.
This operation is set to launch Jan. 10. Registration ends Jan. 15. Register online at
www.msha.com/hrc
or pick up a registration form at the Health Resources Center or at Food City pharmacies in Elizabethton, Piney Flats, Boones Creek, Jonesborough, Gray, or at the South Roan Johnson City store. No purchase necessary.
Additional sponsors include Food City, Niswonger Children's Hospital and HEAL Appalachia.
The program will be centered around the “5210” goals:
5 servings of fruits or veggies
2 hours or less of non-work/school related screen time
1 hour exercise/active play (adults have separate guidelines for beginners and those already exercising)
0 sugary drinks
Here’s how to get started:
Complete the short Healthy Habit History form and click “Send.” This form must be completed at the beginning and conclusion of the program in order to be eligible for the prize drawings at the completion of the program.
Start tracking your progress beginning on Jan. 10.
Participants will keep a weekly log sheet to record their 5210 goals.
There are separate log sheets for children 12 or under and for teens through adults.
Participants can access the log sheets either online or in person at the Health Resources Center (HRC) located on the lower level of The Mall at Johnson City.
Weekly check-ins are required, with the final check-in due by Feb. 28.
Return completed log sheets weekly to the HRC either in person, by fax at
423-915-5209
or by e-mail at hrc02@msha.com
For additional information or questions, please call the HRC at
423-915-5200
, Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
