MSHA receives eight awards for marketing and public relations


JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Mountain States Health Alliance communications and marketing department received eight awards from the Tennessee Society for Healthcare Marketing and Public Relations (TSHMPR) during the society’s annual meeting this week. MSHA received five Prism awards and three Citations of Excellence for advertising and communications campaigns that have been produced in the past year, including one entry that was named Best of Show.

The five Prism awards were: Falling Commercial, Foundation Radiation Oncology Booklet, Spirit Gala Invitation, Starr the Pig Animation, and Norton Community Hospital Physician Recruitment Video. Falling Commercial was named Best of Show. The three Citations of Excellence were Gurney Commercial, One Size Does Not Fit All Campaign, and Mountain Star.

Ed Herbert, MSHA’s vice president of communications and marketing, was honored with the society’s Lamar Jackson Distinguished Service Award. The award is presented to a TSHMPR member who has made significant contributions to the society over a sustained period of time.  


TSHMPR is the largest organization of healthcare communicators in Tennessee. Its mission is to enhance the value of healthcare marketing and communications and serve its members through education, skills development and information sharing. TSHMPR’s annual Prism awards recognize outstanding achievements in healthcare marketing and public relations throughout the state.
