RCMC updates radiology department with bone density scanner
LEBANON, Va. – Russell County Medical Center (RCMC) is updating its radiology department this month by adding a DEXA scanner. A DEXA (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry) scanner is an enhanced form of X-ray technology that can measure bone loss. The test is usually performed on the lower spine and hips, or sometimes the whole body.
“We’ve recently added a new fluoroscopy machine (used to examine the tissues and deep structures of the body by X-ray), digital mammography and now DEXA to our recently updated radiology department,” said Eddie Greene, AVP/administrator for RCMC. “With key service improvements like centralized scheduling and precertifications, we hope to continue to make RCMC the facility of choice for our community.”
