Shamrock 4 Miler, Leprechaun Walk coming up March 14 in Abingdon

This year's race is set for the evening
of Friday, March 14.

ABINGDON, Va. – The annual Shamrock 4 Miler Road Race and Leprechaun Walk benefiting Johnston Memorial Hospital Foundation is set for Friday, March 14, at 7 p.m. starting at the Abingdon Farmers’ Market on Remsburg Drive.  

All proceeds from the race benefit the JMH Foundation. Last year, the second year of the event, more than 650 people participated and more than $6,000 was raised for patient needs at JMH.   

Participants can register for the race through midnight, Wednesday, March 12, at The early registration fee for the Shamrock run is $20 per runner and $15 per runner age 12 and under. Pre-registration for the 1.3-mile Leprechaun Walk is $15 for participants of all ages. 

Late registration for both events and packet pick-up for pre-registered participants will be held just before the race from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the Abingdon Farmers’ Market. Late registration fees are $25 for runners, $15 for runners 12 and under, and $20 for all walkers.

Snacks will be provided after the race by Food Country USA and a post-race party and entertainment will be sponsored by Abingdon Music Experience. Other race sponsors include CrestPoint Health, Johnston Memorial Hospital and the Town of Abingdon.

Johnston Memorial Foundation helps to fund needed equipment, supplies and programs for JMH. The Foundation hosts special events throughout the year to support the growing needs of health care in Southwest Virginia.
