Silmon joins MSMG Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics

KINGSPORT - Mountain States Medical Group Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics welcomes Dr. Robert W. Silmon Jr. to the practice.

Silmon completed his residency in family medicine at East Tennessee State University, Kingsport, where he served as chief resident. He also completed a general surgery residency at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, then a research fellowship in trauma and critical care at Yale University, New Haven, Conn.

He was an officer/navigator in the Air Force from 1985-1992. After his military service, he was an ICU staff nurse at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop, La., then served as a physician extender at Simon Bolivar Clinic at St. George's University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies. He served as a delegate representative with the Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians in 2009.

Silmon has been married for 21 years. He and his wife have three children - two attend Dobyns-Bennett High School and one attends East Tennessee State University.
