Spirit Gala 2011 to benefit MSHA’s Oncology Services
12/30/2010
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. –
Mountain States Foundation’s
2011 Spirit Gala, set for Jan. 29, will benefit Mountain States Health Alliance’s
Oncology Services
.
The event at the Millennium Centre, titled “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” will feature entertainment by the Charles Goodwin Orchestra and Broadway performers. Enjoy a gourmet dinner prepared by Master Chef Jean-Claude Seruga. A limited number of seats are available, and reservations are required for this black-tie evening.
The Spirit Gala will proudly honor Don Jeanes as the 2011 Spirit Award recipient. In addition, there will be a live auction, an opportunity to support a philanthropic area called Spirit of the Heart, and a car raffle, sponsored by Champion Chevrolet. The lucky winner will choose one of three great vehicles - a 2011 Cadillac SRX, a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro or a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 Crew Cab pickup.
Only 3,000 raffle tickets are available for $50 each. The winner will be drawn and notified during the gala. Raffle tickets are available online at www.mountainstatesfoundation.org, from any committee or board member, or by calling Mountain States Foundation’s office at
423-952-3110
. Call the Foundation office to purchase a Spirit Gala ticket ($200 per person), which includes the Spirit Gala itself and also the pre-gala Wine & Cheese event.
The Wine & Cheese event will be held on Thursday, Jan. 13, sponsored by and held at the Millennium Centre. This evening hosts a silent auction that offers fine wines and spirits, and jewelry and artisan items including pottery and wood turnings, also benefiting MSHA’s Oncology Services. A highlight is Eli Lily’s exhibit, “Oncology on Canvas: Expressions of a Cancer Journey.” The Lilly “Oncology on Canvas” Competition began in 2004, with nearly 500 entries from 23 countries. The resulting exhibit debuted at London’s Royal College of Art and then toured the world, encouraging and inspiring people in more than 100 cities.
Wine & Cheese attendees can view art created by those who have been touched by cancer - patients, family members, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers - to express, through art and narrative, the life-affirming changes that give their cancer journey meaning.
Heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine flights, cheese pairings and specialty beer tastings will be available. Cocktail attire is suggested for the Wine & Cheese event.
Those who are not able to attend the Spirit Gala can opt to attend only the Wine & Cheese event. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased by calling the Mountain States Foundation office. (A Spirit Gala ticket includes both the gala and the Wine & Cheese event.)
The 2011 Spirit Gala Committee chairs are Amy Benton and Heidi Dulebohn.
Mountain States Foundation gives special appreciation to the 2011 sponsors: Anesthesia Pain Consultants, Appalachian Radiation Oncology Associates PC, CenturyLink, Dr. Scott and Heidi Dulebohn, Integrated Solutions Health Network, the Millennium Centre, Pershing Yoakley & Associates, State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Co. and SunTrust Bank.
