Sycamore Shoals Hospital welcomes its first baby of 2011

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - Sycamore Shoals Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2011 on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at 12:04 p.m.  

The little girl was the first baby born in Carter County and the first born from Unicoi County, as parents Heather White and Scott Blankenship hail from Erwin. For having the first baby at SSH, the family received a congratulatory basket from Mountain States Health Alliance and its Auxiliary. 

Around the MSHA system, it was a busy night for deliveries in its Family Birth Centers. Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va., had its first arrival at 12:49 a.m., just five minutes after Johnson City Medical Center. At 1:16 a.m., Franklin Woods Community Hospital, Johnson City, welcomed its first baby of 2011, while Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Va., had its first baby at 2:52 a.m. Overnight JCMC delivered five babies, with a sixth mother in labor in the afternoon of Jan. 1, 2011.
