UCMH proposals available for public review

The Unicoi County Memorial Hospital (UCMH) Board of Control issued a request for proposal to Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) and Wellmont Health System on July 30, 2012. Each health system was asked to outline terms for acquisition of the hospital, and the letters of intent were evaluated by the UCMH Board of Control to determine which one should be submitted for a vote. MSHA’s letter of intent was identified as the superior proposal, and board members were set to conduct a formal vote on Oct. 4, 2012.
On that date, officials from Wellmont Health System demanded an opportunity to submit a revised proposal after reviewing MSHA’s bid. They were granted that opportunity. The resulting revised proposals can be seen here, along with MSHA’s original proposal. To date, Wellmont officials have refused to make public their original proposal.
