Women’s expo to feature health info, screenings, more


KINGSPORT – A women’s expo will be held Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kingsport Town Center, hosted by the Health Resources Center.

The free expo, titled “Ageless Health and Beauty – Touching Lives Through the Generations,” is open to women of all ages and will feature health and wellness information, screenings, pampering products, door prizes and giveaways.

Free screenings available at the event include a digital foot scan and screenings for the spine, vision, blood sugar, blood pressure, posture, sleep and memory. Bone density screenings are available for $30, cash or check. Call 1-800-888-5551 for an appointment.

Special free events include:

  • Zumba – 10:30-11:30 a.m. Michelle Woods will teach this high-energy class with a little Latin flavor. Wear comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.
  • “Fruits, Vegetables and Phytochemicals – the Natural Pharmacy in Your Ingles Produce Department” – noon to 12:30 p.m. Speaker Leah McGrath, RD, LDN, Ingles Dietitian, will explain how the produce you buy can provide the necessary vitamins and minerals you need to stay healthy.
  • “Adding Color to Your Plate” – 12:30-1:30 p.m. Shawn Moore, Mountain States Health Alliance chef, and Lisa Gilreath, RD, LDN, CDE, will discuss how fresh fruits and vegetables make a meal come alive with flavor. Cooking demonstration with free samples.
