NORTON, Va. – Dr. Isam Zibdeh, an OB/GYN physician at Norton Community Hospital and the NorWise OB/GYN Clinic, recently received Mountain States Health Alliance’s highest honor for physicians – the Physician’s Servant’s Heart Award.

Dr. Zibdeh has served more than 30 years in obstetrics and gynecology at Norton Community Hospital, working in a traditionally underserved area for women’s health, and when another OB/GYN doctor left, Zibdeh put off his own retirement in order to keep serving patients during the void.

“NorWise is like my baby; I’ve nurtured it just like all the babies I’ve delivered; I will stay as long as I think it needs me,” Zibdeh said at the time.

Mark Leonard, VP/CEO, Norton Community Hospital, said, “In my 25 months here at NCH as CEO, I have witnessed Dr. Zibdeh holding leadership roles within our medical staff and continues to display a passion for wanting the NCH Family Birth Center and NorWise OB/GYN clinic to be the best place for women to seek OB and GYN care.”

Zibdeh also recently received the Health Care Heroes Award from The Business Journal of Tri-Cities Tennessee/Virginia and Frontier Health.
