Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH), a 135-bed acute-care hospital located in Abingdon, Virginia, was founded by a physician more than 100 years ago and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. JMH offers the best in treatment and care for the residents of Southwest Virginia, having recently opened a comprehensive cancer center, sustaining continuous excellence in its low rates of infection, and providing the only self-sustaining blood bank in Southwest Virginia. The hospital is constructing a 251,000-square foot replacement facility and is pursuing Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) certification to become a “Green Hospital". ::: Learn More :::

JMH joined Mountain States Health Alliance in 2009.  It has approximately 800 employees as well as 160 medical staff members.

Driving Directions & Parking

• From Interstate 81, take exit 17 (Abingdon). If traveling southbound, turn right at end of exit ramp onto Cummings Street.
• If traveling northbound, turn left at end of exit ramp onto Cummings Street.
• Continue on Cummings Street until it ends (approximately 1.5 miles).
• At that point, turn right onto Valley Street.
• At first traffic signal, turn left onto Court Street.
• Johnston Memorial Hospital is the first building on left.

Parking Parking for patients and visitors is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the parking garage located adjacent to Court Street. All parking at Johnston Memorial Hospital is free. Patients and visitors are cautioned not to park in reserved areas or certain designated areas. Please be sure to lock your car. If something happens which causes you to need assistance with your vehicle, please call the Security Department.
