Bill Farthing has joined the Mountain States Foundation as Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving.  A 34-year veteran in the area of funds development, he served for 12 years as Executive Director of the Cannon Sloop Healthcare Foundation at Charles A. Cannon Jr. Memorial Hospital in Linville, NC.   Farthing also served 18 years as Vice-President for Institutional Advancement at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk.  A native of Boone, NC, Bill and his wife, Libby, now reside in Johnson City.  They have three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Bill will be concentrating on Major Gifts for the Foundation and MSHA, including but not limited to Planned Gifts, offering donors the opportunity to create an income stream along with fulfilling their desire to make restricted and unrestricted charitable gifts.  His experience in funds development includes major gifts and planned giving, along with direction of major capital campaigns, annual gifts, marketing and public relations, as well as fund raising consulting.

He also served as an area director for the North Carolina Chapter of the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was in the United States Air Force.

“I am pleased to be a team member of the Mountain States Foundation and MSHA and look forward to working with Foundation President, Patricia Holtsclaw and the staff, to develop the major gifts and planned giving program.” Farthing stated.
