What is behavioral health care?

At Mountain States Health Alliance, we believe that how you feel emotionally is as important as how you feel physically. Our Behavioral Health Services are designed to treat everyone, from children to the elderly. Just as family physicians help people who are physically ill or injured, behavioral healthcare professionals help people overcome emotional, mental or behavioral problems that can interfere with everyday life.

Getting help with an emotional problem is a wise step. Not only do patients benefit from the counseling services they receive, so do those closest to them - family members, friends and co-workers.

What are my options for behavioral health care at Mountain States?

Behavioral care for mental health or chemical dependency problems is delivered in any number of settings, each of which has been designed to meet specific patient needs:

  • Inpatient Care
Because this level of care is for patients in the advanced stages of an addiction or mental health problem, inpatient care is delivered around the clock in a hospital that has medical staff. Treatment also includes recreation, arts and therapeutic healing gardens. Medication therapy (psychopharmacology) may also be used to treat patients.
  • Intensive Outpatient Care
This setting is a middle ground between outpatient and inpatient care. While the patient requires more intensive care than an outpatient program provides, he or she also is better able to manage daily affairs than patients in an inpatient program. Intensive outpatient care can last anywhere from three to eight hours for two to five days a week.

Behavioral care for mental health or chemical dependency problems is delivered in any number of settings, each of which has been designed to meet specific patient needs:

•  Individual/Group Therapy
