Nestled by the beautiful landscape of Mountain City , Johnson County Community Hospital offers hometown inpatient care coupled with a state-of-the-art 24-hour emergency department. Serving the upper northeast tip of Tennessee as well as parts of North Carolina and Southwest Virginia , the center offers outpatient and primary care services provided by Johnson County Medical Group. Johnson County Community Hospital is a two-bed critical access hospital that was opened by Mountain States Health Alliance in 1998 to serve the community after the closing of the Johnson County Hospital.

A dedicated staff of physicians, physical therapists and other healthcare professionals provide numerous services including cardiac rehabilitation, respiratory therapy, as well as diagnostic services including CT scans, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography, physical therapy and laboratory services.
The JCCH outreach personnel provide health education at community events and onsite influenza vaccines to local industry.

- From Elizabethton: take Highway 67 to Mountain City. At the first traffic light, turn right onto Highway 421. This is also South Shady Street. Johnson County Community Hospital will be approximately 1.5 miles on the left, just before the National Guard Armory.
- From Boone, NC: take Highway 421 to Mountain City. Johnson County Community Hospital will be on your right, just past the National Guard Armory.
