Physical Therapy for Pregnant and Postpartum MothersPhysical Therapy for Pregnant and Postpartum Mothers at IPMC at Indian Path Medical Center

Mountain States Rehabilitation of Kingsport at Indian Path Medical Center offers a comprehensive physical health program for pregnant and postpartum mothers to help them:

The blessing of a child changes a mother's life forever, and she may feel her body will never be the same. Her waist and hips are a little wider than before, it takes a greater amount of energy to contract the abs, and some feel they can't contract their belly at all. The slightest cough or sneeze causes wet pants. An aching back and pelvis make it difficult to perform the simplest activities of daily living.

  • Gain strength and stability from the inside out following delivery
  • Decrease low back and sacral iliac pain during pregnancy
  • Recover from back and sacral iliac pain post-delivery
  • Recover from stress incontinence by building strength in the pelvic floor muscles

We offer community education and general management, but for specific treatment, we require a prescription from your primary care physician or OB/GYN. You will receive an individualized exam and prescriptive program to achieve your goals.

Home exercise instruction will be included.
