The Trauma Center at Johnson City Medical Center provides specialized care to trauma patients from Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. We also receive patients from many outlying regions in addition to inter-facility transports of patients who need the expertise that can only be provided by a Level 1 Trauma Center. Patients are transported directly to our Emergency Department by paramedics and flight crews, such as Wings Air Rescue.

The Johnson City Medical Center became a trauma center in 1992, and since 1994 has been recognized as a Level I Trauma Center, the highest level awarded by the State of Tennessee.
