Helping Hands, the gift store, run by volunteers, is open----There are many gifts for your loved ones and yourself. Among them are, baby gifts, cards, balloons, books, stuffed animals, purses & bags, jewelry, toiletries, cappuccino, popcorn, and candy.
All money earned is donated to many different things. It goes to charities such as the Ronald McDonald House in Johnson City, improving the inside of hospital with murals in pediatric rooms and the hallway (opens in a new browser), the library and bookshelves for the residency program, food for the local food bank, and the Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer Center. They also sponsor nurses at Mountain Empire Community College.
With every hour worked the money goes to the government which has it go to grants for fuel assistance for the elderly.
