What is Physical Therapy?
Physical
Therapy is a highly specialized healthcare profession focused on the
interaction of the various body systems and their effect on a person’s
ability to move and perform functional activities. Physical Therapists
work with people of all ages. The goals of Physical Therapy are to
promote a person’s ability to move, reduce pain, restore function,
prevent disability and improve overall quality of life.
A
Physical Therapist will perform a thorough assessment to identify
current and potential problems. Based on the findings from the initial
assessment, a Physical Therapist will help a person develop a Plan of
Care with anticipated treatment options, goals and expected time frames,
individualized to the person’s particular needs and expectations.
