What is Home Health Care
"Home care" or "Home health" refers to a wide variety of services provided in the home setting. An individual may not need hospital care or nursing home care, but may require assistance with their day-to-day health and personal needs. In some cases, assistance or care is needed for a new condition or to manage a disease.
Home health care allows patients to remain in the home while receiving medical care.
Home care may:
- Shorten or prevent hospital stays
- Eliminate the need for nursing home stays
- Assist in the management of illness or injury

The agencies of Mountain States Health Alliance in Tennessee are accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), insured and licensed in the state of Tennessee. Smyth Regional HomeCare (SRHC), Russell County Medical Center Home Health and Hospice (RCMCHHH) and Johnston Memorial Home Care (JMHC) are accredited by The Joint Commission, insured and licensed in the state of Virginia. Office hours are generally 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A registered nurse is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. After hours your call will be answered by our answering service.

Our desire is to provide health care for you in your home where you are most comfortable. There are times of medical emergency when re-hospitalization is necessary; but many times the assistance of a nurse or therapist can help keep you at home.
Before going to the hospital or Emergency Department, please call the agency for assistance.
Our agencies exist to provide home care services to those in need in our community. Your satisfaction is our goal. Should you have questions about your care, complaints about our service or any concern related to your home health experience - DON'T WAIT. Call the supervisor immediately. The sooner we know about a problem, the quicker we can act to address the issue.

Billing and Agency Management
The billing and agency management team provides consultation and management services, including processing insurance claims from commercial providers as well as TennCare and Medicare.
