Coronary Risk Screening

Heart and blood vessel diseases are our nation's number one killer. More than 2,500 Americans die each day from them; meanwhile, more than 56 million people are living with them. It is important that you keep track of risk factors such as elevated blood pressure and cholesterol. Four Saturdays a year SSH offers Coronary Risk/Blood Pressure Screenings. Lab work includes blood glucose level, hematocrit, triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and risk ratio. For information please call 423-542-1280.

Health Fairs & Educational Programs

SSH participates in many community health fairs and educational programs. The hospital provides blood pressure screenings, body fat analyses and health information booths at festivals and events in Carter and Johnson counties. Each October SSH honors area clergy with a luncheon, during which local clergy are brought up to date on services provided by the hospital and current community health concerns. SSH also hosts an annual Teacher Health Fair and In-Service Day for educators. The event provides teachers with health information on topics such as diabetes, asthma, stress, nutrition and childhood obesity.
