Intensive Care Unit at Sycamore Shoals
The Sycamore Shoals Hospital Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) are specialized units for medical and surgical patients that require comprehensive and continuous monitoring. Our expert care team is trained in advanced life support, heart monitoring and monitoring of the critically ill. Sycamore Shoals Hospital ICU/PCU is dedicated to delivering patient centered care to our patients and family members. We invite loved ones to enjoy the healing garden, participate in open visitation and join the VIP program.
Intensive Care Unit Caregivers
The ICU care team includes highly skilled and specialty trained nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists and other clinical team members. The ICU patient receives a specialized care from the healthcare team to work in partnership with the patient and family members to provide the best healthcare experience possible.
Patient-Centered Care Principles
The Sycamore Shoals ICU customizes care to reflect the patient's needs, values and choices. Families and friends of the patient are considered an essential part of the care team. All caregivers cooperate with one another through a common focus on the best interest and personal goals of the patient.
Support of friends and family is very important to the patient's healing process. The OPEN VISITATION Policy at the Sycamore Shoals ICU/PCU offers a welcoming atmosphere for families and visitors. Open visitation is from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. We encourage patients to rest from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Patients will often not sleep when visitors are present, and adequate sleep is important to both the patient and his or her loved ones. We ask only one visitor stay in the patient's room overnight.
