Angela's Cottage of Hope
|
While undergoing treatment for colon cancer, local beautician and award-winning salon owner Angela Hobbs was so touched by the kindnesses of others that she decided that she wanted to help other people in similar circumstances.
Angela’s parents, Marcie and Tim Littleton, found a way to honor their daughter after her death at age 38 and help others at the same time by opening her former ho me as a free guest house for cancer patients and families from outside the area who travel to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.
“When she died, we thought we could give this house for them to stay in and this yard for their children to play in,” Angela’s mother said. “She would have loved it.”
After Angela’s death, her husband and their children moved closer to his mother so that she could help him with the children. Marcie and Tim then renovated and refurnished the little farmhouse that was Angela’s home and that of several generations of the Littleton family.
