The East Tennessee State University Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is a formal affiliate of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn. The St. Jude Tri-Cities Affiliate Clinic participates in nationally sponsored pediatric clinical trials in the treatment of childhood cancers. Our St. Jude Center participates in both St. Jude sponsored clinical trials and clinical trials sponsored by the Children’s Oncology Group, (COG), funded by the National Cancer Institute. National and international member institutions participate in these therapeutic studies.

The pediatric hematology/oncology division sees approximately 2,500 outpatient visits per year and follows more than 200 youngsters with malignancies, 25 youngsters with congenital bleeding disorders, and a variety of other hematological problems. The First Regional Hemophilia Program, a state sponsored program for congenital bleeding disorders, sees children quarterly in the St. Jude Tri-Cities Affiliate Clinic. Areas of research for this division include cancer and hematology clinical trials and studies of supportive care for the cancer patients.

The St. Jude Tri-Cities Affiliate operates inside Niswonger Children's Hospital, 400 N. State of Franklin Road, Johnson City, TN 37604. Our waiting room, designated for Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, is stocked with toys and learning materials. We have eight exam rooms designed for children’s comfort.
