Invasive Procedures
Cardiac Catheterization
- Patient is admitted to Short Stay 2 hours prior to the procedure for registration, admission assessment, EKG, Labs, and procedure prep.
- Do not eat or drink 6 hours prior to the procedure.
- Drink plenty of fluids the night before the procedure (unless fluid restriction).
- Ask your physician about what medicines you should take prior to the procedure.
- Make arrangements for someone to drive you home.
- Bring a list of current medications you are taking.
- Bring an overnight bag, in the event you will be admitted to the hospital.
Cardioversion
- Admitted to Short Stay 2 hours prior to the procedure for registration, admission assessment, EKG, labs, and procedure prep.
- Do not eat or drink 6 hours prior to the procedure.
- Drink plenty of fluids the night before the procedure (unless fluid restriction).
- Ask your physician about what medicines you should take prior to the procedure.

- Bring an overnight bag, in the event you will be admitted to the hospital.
Pacemaker Implant
- Admitted to Short Stay 2 hours prior to the procedure for registration, admission assessment, EKG, labs, and procedure prep.
- Do not eat or drink 6 hours prior to the procedure.
- Drink plenty of fluids the night before the procedure (unless fluid restriction).
- Ask your physician about what medicines you should take prior to the procedure.
- Bring a list of current medications you are taking.
- Bring an overnight bag, you will be admitted to the hospital.
Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator /Generator Change Out
- Admitted to Short Stay 2 hours prior to the procedure for registration, admission assessment, EKG, labs, and procedure prep.
- Do not eat or drink 6 hours prior to the procedure.
- Drink plenty of fluids the night before the procedure (unless fluid restriction).
- Ask your physician about what medicines you should take prior to the procedure.
- Bring a list of current medications you are taking.
- Bring an overnight bag, you will be admitted to the hospital.
Noninvasive Procedures
Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to test time for registration
- Wear short sleeves, no sweatshirts or tight-sleeved clothing
- Test will take about 1 hour to complete
Echo, Carotid Ultrasound, Arterial or Venous Doppler, ABI
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to test for registration
- Wear 2 piece clothing
- No diet restrictions, unless you are having another test which requires restriction of food or drink
- Each of these tests may take up to an hour to complete. If you have multiple procedures, plan for an hour for each
EKG
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to test time for registration
- Wear 2 piece clothing
- Test will take about 30 minutes to complete
Event Monitor
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to test time for registration
- Wear 2 piece clothing
- Test will take about 1 hour to complete
Holter Monitor
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to test time for registration
- Shower or bathe before the test (the monitor stays on for 24-48 hrs)
- Wear 2 piece clothing
- Test will take about 1 hour to complete
Stress Test
- Arrive 2 hours prior to the procedure for registration, prep and resting films
- Do not eat or drink 6 hours prior to the test—NO CAFFIENE for 24 hrs prior to test. Drink plenty of fluids the night before the test
- Ask your physician about what medicines you should take prior to the test
- Bring shoes (not sandals or slip-on) wear comfortable 2 piece clothing
- Test may take up to 6 hours to complete
Tilt Table
- NOTHING to drink or eat 6 hours prior to test. Drink plenty of fluids the night before the test
- Need to have a driver to take patient home
- Test may take up to 3 hours to complete
- Wear 2 piece clothing
