| In the work environment, each team member brings their own diversity in management of patient care, employee management, and administrative skills. From the community perspective, ethnic diversity continues to change throughout northeast Tennessee as well as regional differences within our own and surrounding communities. Patient-centered care includes awareness of all caregivers’ cultural issues, including age, obesity, spirituality, Appalachian culture, etc., and demonstrating sensitivity to differences, whether in clinical or non-clinical settings.
The Center for Cultural Diversity is charged with leading and guiding cultural diversity awareness, education assistance, and serving as a central repository of information for the MSHA team members, patients, families, and the community.
