Our Family Birth Centers offer innovative maternity care within the most advanced medical facilities.

For your privacy and comfort, all our maternity care suites are private with private baths. Each suite has a warm, homelike feeling, and extra attention is given to the smallest details to make your stay more pleasant. Each suite is equipped with fetal monitoring equipment and has all features available as needed for delivery. A central patient monitoring system provides the latest medical advances in maternity care. High-risk services and surgical delivery suites are close at hand, if needed.

Our Birth Experts

For the normal or most complicated pregnancy, we have access to a full staff of specialists, including: 

• Nurses specially trained in maternity care to assist you throughout your stay  
• Highly skilled professionals in our birthing suites and surgical delivery areas to monitor your labor, delivery and recovery
• Qualified anesthesiologists, available 24 hours a day, should you desire or require anesthesia/analgesia
• Board-certified neonatologists and other professional experts on call 24 hours a day for the care of sick newborns
• Obstetricians who care for women during pregnancy and beyond
• Johnson City Medical Center is home to the Northeast Tennessee Regional Perinatal Center.

The Perinatal Center at JCMC is one of only five state-designated perinatal centers in Tennessee. Because of this designation, the following high-risk services are available at JCMC if necessary:

• Maternal fetal specialists provide consultation on high-risk pregnancies.
• Air and ground transport services are available for infants, as determined by the physicians.
• The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Niswonger Children's Hospital, on the campus of JCMC, is the largest in the region and is staffed and equipped to offer the latest in medical technology and care to infants who need the close attention of an intensive care unit.
• Pediatric sub-specialists are available at Niswonger Children's Hospital to care for the special needs of newborns experiencing complications following birth.
