The childbirth facilities of Mountain States Health Alliance offer prenatal classes as an important component in the preparation for the birth of your child. We strive to provide prenatal classes that will help to prepare mom, dad, siblings and other family members for their very special arrival.

We offer a wide variety of classes within each childbirth facility. All of our classes offer the same detailed, up-to-date content, presented to you by nurse educators. Our Classes
Heartsaver/First Aid
Learn the basic lifesaving skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and choking in the infant and child. Important child safety information will also be discussed.
Begin classes after 32 weeks
Sibling Class
This class helps prepare brothers and sisters, ages 3 to 9, for the arrival of a new baby. Children receive a tour of the Labor and Delivery area and learn how to diaper, feed and hold a newborn baby using dolls. They are allowed time to express their feelings regarding the new baby and view videos about the adjustment of becoming a big brother or big sister..Class for ages 10-12 also available.
Begin class when mom is past 30 weeks
Infant Care Class
This class is centered on what to expect after delivery and provides an opportunity to learn about infant characteristics, newborn care (bathing, diapering, navel cord care), as well as feeding options, safety issues and car seat information. Grandparents, older siblings and support persons are welcome.
Register for this class 30 -34 weeks.
Breastfeeding Class
Our lactation consultants are dedicated to strengthening the mother/baby bond by providing information and support for successful breast-feeding. This class provides information to assist families in learning the art of breast-feeding. Topics include preparation for breast feeding, benefits to mother and baby, getting started, managing breast-feeding and resources. Grandparents and support persons are welcome.
Class should be taken 32-38 weeks
Childbirth Preparation Class
This three-or four-week childbirth preparation series introduces the expectant mom and her coach to changes of late pregnancy; stages/phases of labor and delivery; the coach's role, pain management, breathing and relaxation techniques; after-delivery expectations; includes a tour of the Labor and Delivery area.
Register for the class by the 28th week - take class between 30-32 weeks.
Refresher Course
This course is for those moms who have previously attended childbirth classes. Labor and delivery, pain management, the role for the coach, and relaxation and breathing techniques are all reviewed.
Register by the 30th week
Childbirth Marathon Class
This one-day childbirth class is offered especially for those who are unable to complete a series of classes due to fast-paced schedules, yet want to be prepared for the birth experience. The class covers the same topics as the three-week childbirth series.
You should register for a class by the 28th week and begin classes between 30 and 32 weeks.
Childbirth Relaxation & Breathing Class
This is a one-time, two hour class to discuss and practice pain management using natural techniques such as progressive relaxation, breathing and positioning to help parents who want a more natural approach to childbirth. Attendees MUST have completed a Childbirth or Marathon Childbirth Class prior to attending.
