How Do I Choose A Doctor For My Baby?
You can choose a pediatrician (a doctor who is specially trained to care for children) or a family practice doctor. Start by checking which doctors are on your insurance list. Whichever doctor you choose, ask about:
- his or her philosophy on breastfeeding, discipline and parenting
- how to contact him or her in the middle of the night
- whether the office has sick/well waiting areas or sick/well hours
Prenatal interviews are important! The doctor you choose is the person to whom you are entrusting your child's health care.
Get started early - you should choose a doctor for your baby by the 36th week of your pregnancy.
