Please note:

The Family Birth Center at Johnson City Medical Center is undergoing renovation, with a focus on updating the area to promote better patient-centered care. The new center is expected to be operational by late September.

In the meantime, FBC patient care activities will continue in alternative care sites at JCMC, including the Niswonger Children’s Hospital. Registration will not move. Please come to the current Family Birth Center (Center for Women’s Health) entrance at JCMC. Our team will help you get to where you need to go, and signs will be posted to help guide people during construction.

Labor, delivery, and recovery (LDR) will relocate to seven private rooms on the third floor of Niswonger Children’s Hospital. Mothers and babies will have rooms on 3400, on the third floor of JCMC.

The renovation includes reorganizing the layout of the FBC’s main area to make it more user-friendly when visitors first arrive, and to provide for more in-room patient privacy.

The FBC’s maternity care suites are private with private baths. Each suite has a warm, homelike feeling, and extra attention is given to the smallest details to make a mother’s stay more pleasant. Each suite is equipped with fetal monitoring equipment and has all features available as needed for delivery. A central patient monitoring system provides the latest medical advances in maternity care. High-risk services and surgical delivery suites are close at hand, if needed.
