we often think of bone as a hard and lifeless structure, it is
actually made up of complex, living tissue that is constantly
changing. Your bones provide structural support for your muscles,
protect your vital organs, and store calcium necessary for healthy
bone density and strength. Up until around age 30, women build
and store bone efficiently; however, as we age, our bones naturally
begin to break down faster than new bone can be formed. We are
also more susceptible to certain types of bone problems, including osteoporosis,
than men are. To date, there is no cure for osteoporosis, only
treatment. That's why it is so important to establish bone health
early through the right diet and exercise.
