ready for delivery. This is called vertex
position. Some babies, however, do not arrange
themselves in vertex, and this is called
breech. Breech position is usually characterized
by a fetus whose buttocks is positioned
to come out first, with the feet near the
head. The legs may also be folded at the
knees or stretched out below the buttocks.
