provider doesn’t know everything. That doesn’t mean you
should never fully trust your provider. Most of the time, your provider
will be able to tell you what’s going on, and will give you
accurate diagnosis and treatment options. However, if you have been
diagnosed with a serious medical condition, you should educate yourself
about treatment options, and you should also seek out a second opinion.
Sometimes, your provider will have a preferred method of treatment,
he or she may be unfamiliar with variant treatment options. It is
important for you to seek out a second opinion if you have a serious
medical condition, in order to discover all of your treatment options
before you decide on the appropriate path. If your provider tells
you that you are perfectly healthy, the chances are that this is
accurate. But, if you still don’t feel quite right, or have
a suspicion that something isn’t so healthy about your body,
get a second opinion. If your provider continually brushes off your
complaints as part of “aging” or some other excuse,
you might want to find another provider. Be confident that tests
necessary and that your concerns are legitimate.
